Delhi High Court Protects Doordarshan Journalist Sudhir Chaudhary’s Personality Rights

The Delhi High Court protected the personality rights of Doordarshan journalist Sudhir Chaudhary, safeguarding his name, image, likeness, and voice.

The petition alleged that his voice was being commercially misused without consent. Justice Manmeet Pritam Singh Arora directed the removal of all AI-generated and deepfake content featuring him from social media platforms.

The Court held that unauthorised use of a person’s identity, including through AI manipulation, infringes personality rights.

The Court ordered that uploaders must remove infringing content within 48 hours of notice, failing which platforms like Google and Meta must take it down.
