Delhi High Court Permanently Restrains Websites From Infringing Tata Group’s ‘CROMA’ Trademark

The Delhi High Court issued a permanent injunction to Infiniti Retail Limited (Tata Group’s subsidiary) the owner of the 'CROMA' trademark, against trademark infringement by domain names/websites using the said mark.

Infiniti stated that the domain names containing the word ‘CROMA’ confuse customers into believing they are connected to CROMA, causing financial and reputational harm to it.

Defendants did not contest the suit; the court proceeded with a summary judgment.

The court directed the Domain Name Registrars including GoDaddy to transfer the domain names to Infiniti and directed service providers like Vodafone & Jio to suspend the defendant’s mobile numbers also, directed permanent suspension/freezing of bank accounts and UPI IDs.
