Delhi High Court Questions Centre on Enforcement of DPDP Act Amid Delay in Notification

The Delhi High Court has raised questions to the Centre about the implementation of the Digital Personal Data Protection (DPDP) Act, 2023.

The Court was dealing with the case of a working professional who claimed that, without the implementation of the Act, businesses engage in unethical practices and misuse the personal data of individuals without their consent.

The Act regulates the processing of digital personal data in India and abroad and mandates a Data Protection Board to monitor compliance, address grievances, and impose penalties for breaches.

Although the bill received Presidential assent in 2023, the law has not yet been notified.
