The Delhi High Court has pulled up the Central government for keeping 20 Indian Air Force (IAF) posts vacant despite eligible women clearing the NDA exams.
A Division Bench of Justices C Hari Shankar and Om Prakash Shukla held that apart from two seats earmarked for women, the remaining 90 flying vacancies notified by UPSC in 2023 were open to all.
The Court directed the Centre to immediately appoint petitioner Archana, ranked seventh in the women’s merit list, to one of the posts, with full parity in service benefits.
“We are no longer in those times where discrimination can be made between male and female candidates,” the Court observed.
