Delhi High Court Refers Crompton-Orient Trademark Dispute Over ‘Stylus’ to Mediation

The Delhi High Court has referred the trademark dispute between Crompton Greaves and Orient Electric over using the mark ‘Stylus’ for fans to mediation.

Crompton claims it registered ‘Stylus’ in 2007 and has used it since 2002, while Orient argues it has been selling ‘Stylus Pedestal’ and ‘Stylus Wall’ fans since 2020, and Crompton started selling Stylus fans in 2023.

The key issue is the trademark registration under Class 11, covering lighting and cooling appliances.

Justice Mini Pushkarna issued a summons and directed Orient to respond, stating that the case would proceed only if mediation failed.
