The Delhi High Court has refused to entertain a PIL seeking a CBI or SEBI probe into alleged recruitment irregularities at Can Fin Homes Ltd, a housing finance company.
A Division Bench of Chief Justice Devendra Kumar Upadhyaya and Justice Tushar Rao Gedela criticised the petitioner for relying solely on a media report published by NDTV Profit.
The Court called the petition “half-baked” and emphasised that PILs must be backed by concrete evidence and prior approach to regulatory authorities.
“Don’t file PILs after reading newspapers,” the Court remarked. The petitioner eventually withdrew the plea after the Court declined to intervene.
