Delhi High Court Issues John Doe Order to Protect ‘TATA’ Trademark from Online Fraud

The Delhi High Court has issued a John Doe order restraining unknown parties from misusing the ‘TATA’ trademark in fraudulent online dealership and distributorship scams.

Justice Amit Bansal noted that fake websites featuring terms like “TATA dealership” misled the public into making large payments. Tata Sons alleged that victims were duped through fake registration fees and deposits.

The Court directed domain registrars to suspend such websites, ISPs to block phone numbers, and banks to freeze related UPI IDs and accounts.

Tata is also allowed to directly seek suspension of future infringing domains using specific keywords related to dealership or consumer offerings.
