Delhi High Court: Won’t Interfere With CIC Schedule Unless Justice Is Violated

The Delhi High Court held that it could not regulate the calendar or hearing schedule of the Central Information Commission (CIC), noting that the quasi-judicial body must manage its own proceedings and case listing.

The petition, filed by Sunil Bagai, sought directions to the CIC to decide his second appeal expeditiously. The Court granted liberty to the petitioner to approach the CIC, coram seized of the matter, for an expeditious hearing.

The Court emphasised that judicial intervention in the administrative functions of the CIC was unwarranted unless there was a clear violation of the law or the principles of natural justice.

The petition was thus disposed of.
