The Delhi High Court, while hearing a PIL on large-scale Indigo flight cancellations, questioned the Centre over its failure to prevent the crisis that left lakhs of passengers stranded at airports.
The Court said the situation affected not only travellers but also the country’s economy, and directed that compensation provisions under applicable norms must be strictly followed by Indigo.
It asked the government and DGCA how the crisis was allowed to develop despite ongoing monitoring and regulatory powers.
The Court noted that a high-level inquiry is underway and sought responses from all parties, listing the matter for January 22, 2026.
