Delhi High Court Seeks Centre’s Response on Pakistani Woman’s Plea to Stay in India with Husband

The Delhi High Court has sought the Union Government’s response to a petition by Ruqaiya Obaeed, a Pakistani national, seeking permission to reside in India with her Indian husband.

Justice Sachin Datta directed the Centre to file its reply by November 12.

Obaeed married Delhi resident Ubada Abdul Barakat Farooqi in Pakistan in November 2024 and applied for a Long-Term Visa in April 2025.

However, following the Pahalgam terror attack, visa services for Pakistani nationals were suspended. Her request for regularisation was rejected, and an exit permit was issued on April 28.
