Delhi High Court Seeks Customs Report After Colgate Accuses Chinese Products of Trademark Infringement

The Delhi High Court has directed the Customs authorities at Mundra Port to investigate Chinese dental hygiene products, allegedly lying at the port, being packaged in a deceptively similar packaging to Colgate.

Colgate-Palmolive alleged that toothbrushes and toothpastes under the brand name "Doctor Good" were being imported from China with lookalike packaging.

The company sought a permanent injunction against the makers for trademark infringement.

The Court, however, noted that no restraint order can be issued until the imports are verified. Customs has been directed to investigate and detain the goods until further orders.
