The Delhi High Court has sought a response from the Delhi government on a plea filed by the Delhi Petrol Dealers Association challenging the prosecution of fuel pump owners for supplying fuel to End of Life Vehicles (ELVs).
These include petrol vehicles older than 15 years and diesel vehicles older than 10 years.
The association argued that the policy, effective from July 1, 2025, imposes excessive and unreasonable liability on pump owners for accidental or inadvertent violations. They also contended that fuel dealers are not legally authorised or properly equipped to implement such restrictions.
Justice Mini Pushkarna issued notice and granted the dealers liberty to approach the Court if penalised under the policy. The matter will be heard next on September 8.
