Delhi High Court Seeks Govt Reply on Plea by Law Researchers Over Delayed Pay Hike Despite Approval

The Delhi High Court has issued notice to the Delhi government on a plea by 13 legal researchers seeking implementation of a 2023 decision raising their pay from ₹65,000 to ₹80,000 per month, effective October 1, 2022.

Though approved by the Chief Justice and cleared administratively, the hike remains unimplemented.

A bench of Justices Prathiba M Singh and Rajneesh Kumar Gupta highlighted the researchers’ significant role in judicial functioning.

The petition also seeks arrears with 18% interest. The matter is listed for hearing on August 21, after two judges earlier recused due to conflict of interest.
