The Delhi High Court has issued notices to the Reserve Bank of India and HDFC Bank on a petition alleging a ₹74.6 lakh fraudulent debit from the petitioner Manmohan Kumar’s bank account.
He claimed that his registered mobile number and email ID were changed without consent, and a virtual debit card was fraudulently created.
Though HDFC Bank initially reversed the transaction, it later re-debited the amount, claiming no fraud had occurred. Kumar’s complaints to the RBI ombudsman were also dismissed.
The High Court has now sought responses from both the bank and the RBI on the matter.
