Delhi High Court Seeks Timeline for Video Conferencing Facilities in Consumer Forums

The Delhi High Court has directed the Delhi State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission to provide a timeline for equipping all consumer forums within the National Capital Region with video conferencing facilities.

The direction came while hearing a public interest litigation (PIL) seeking the reintroduction of virtual hearings and adequate water and washroom amenities in District Consumer Commissions.

A Division Bench of Chief Justice D.K. Upadhyaya and Justice Tushar Rao Gedela instructed counsel for the Commission to obtain the requisite information from the competent authority.

The Court underscored the necessity of ensuring accessibility and infrastructure to facilitate effective redressal of consumer grievances.
