Delhi High Court Dismisses ANI’s Appeal, Criticises Unauthorised Takedown of Content

The Delhi High Court has dismissed ANI Media Pvt. Ltd.’s appeal in a copyright infringement dispute against Dynamite News Network Pvt. Ltd., observing that the appellant’s conduct “deserves to be deprecated.”

A Division Bench noted that ANI sought the removal of the disputed videos from YouTube without court approval, violating an earlier order requiring judicial oversight.

The Bench held that such unilateral action undermines the sanctity of judicial orders and violates the principles of procedural fairness. The Court found the appeal to be “completely unwarranted” and dismissed it in its entirety.
