False Rape Complaint Harms Real Victims: Delhi High Court Grants Bail to Film Director

The Delhi High Court granted bail to film director Sanoj Kumar Mishra, who was accused of rape by an aspiring actor.  

Justice Girish Kathpalia expressed concern over the increasing trend of false sexual offence complaints, noting their detrimental impact on both the accused and genuine victims. The complainant later admitted to a consensual relationship with Mishra and confessed to filing a false complaint under external influence.  

The court emphasized that such false allegations erode public trust and the credibility of real victims, calling for strict action in such cases.

Consequently, the police have initiated proceedings to register a case against the complainant and others involved in the false accusation.
