Delhi High Court Issues John Doe Order in Fake Burger King Franchise Scam, Directs Domain Blocking

  • Case Name: Burger King Corporation vs. Swapnil Patil & Ors

The Delhi High Court granted a temporary injunction in favor of Burger King Corporation, ordering the suspension of domain names infringing on its trademarks.

The unknown defendants allegedly used deceptive domain names to run fake franchise websites, collecting money from innocent and gullible consumers.

Justice Prathiba M. Singh noted similar previous injunctions. The Court directed Domain Name Registrars (GoDaddy, OVI Hosting) to suspend the domains and ordered the Ministry of Communications and ISPs to block the websites.

The Court also directed Bharti Airtel to block the cell ID and provide defendants' KYC details.
