The Delhi High Court heard India Today Group’s suit alleging Zee Media’s use of ‘Duniyadari’ (in Gurumukhi) for a news show infringes its registered trademark for a popular Lallantop segment.
Justice Tejas Karia orally suggested Zee consider changing its logo to “come out” of the case, while granting time to file a reply by August 22.
India Today argued Zee’s mark is deceptively similar, targets the same Punjabi-speaking audience, and risks confusion, while Zee maintained the word is common and descriptive.
The Court noted India Today’s openness to talks but objection to continued use, and listed the matter for September 2.
