The Delhi High Court directed Adv. Shivanshu Gunwal to provide pro bono legal services in at least two cases before the POCSO Trial court as a condition to accept his apology in a contempt of court case.
Shivanshu was accused of behaving aggressively while arguing in the trial court on behalf of the accused of committing an offense under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012(POCSO Act).
The court stressed the need for lawyers to uphold courtroom decorum.
Thus, the court proceeded to close the contempt case provided he would give free legal services as assigned by the trial court’s presiding judge.
