The Delhi High Court stayed a district court order directing Akasa Air to pay ₹1.08 crore to a travel agent, citing concerns over the possible use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in drafting the ruling.
Observing that the judgment’s structure and the attribution of non-existent legal propositions to Supreme Court cases prima facie indicated AI assistance.
Akasa Air alleged that the district judge relied on "hallucinated" legal principles to grant damages to ABS Tour and Travels following a booking cancellation.
The High Court has stayed the decree, subject to a ₹20 lakh deposit, and will further examine whether AI was used without proper judicial review.
