Delhi High Court to Grant Interim Injunction for Karan Johar in Personality Rights Suit

The Delhi High Court has orally indicated it will grant an interim injunction in favour of filmmaker Karan Johar in his suit alleging unauthorised use of his name, image, voice and persona for commercial purposes.

Justice Manmeet Pritam Singh Arora has ordered social media intermediaries Google, Meta and X to produce subscriber information and IT logs. Platforms like Giphy, Pinterest and others have also been issued summons.

Johar’s plea argues that content ranging from fake profiles and impersonation to unauthorised merchandise crosses the line from fair comment into commercial exploitation.
