No Coercive Action Against Protesters Opposing Supreme Court Stray Dog Order: Delhi High Court

The Delhi High Court recorded the Delhi Police’s statement that no coercive action would be taken against nine protesters booked for opposing the Supreme Court’s order on removing stray dogs from residential areas.

The FIR, registered on August 16, 2025, invoked provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023. The protesters argued they were exercising their fundamental rights under Articles 19(1)(a) and 19(1)(b), which protect free speech and peaceful assembly.

The Court issued notices to the respondents and fixed the next hearing for February 2, 2026.
