Delhi High Court Pulls Up State For Failing To Fill Posts Reserved For PwD Candidates

The Delhi High Court pulled up the Delhi government for failing to fill backlog vacancies reserved for Persons with Disabilities (PwDs), despite clear directions issued in March 2023.

Calling the State’s affidavits “confusing”, the Court observed that the government had mixed routine recruitment with the mandated special drive and warned that contempt proceedings may be initiated if the non-compliance continues.

The Bench of Chief Justice Devendra Kumar Upadhyaya and Justice Tushar Rao Gedela noted the undue delay in identifying backlog vacancies and directed the petitioner to place detailed vacancy data on record.

The Court asked the petitioner to file vacancy details and listed the matter for further hearing in February 2026.
