The Delhi High Court has upheld the conviction of a man accused of raping his eight-year-old neighbour, stressing that courts must reassure society that sexual crimes against children will invite severe consequences.
The Court observed that such offences strike at the very dignity of a child, and the POCSO Act, 2012, mandates strong protection against all forms of child sexual abuse.
The appellant was convicted and punished with 10 years of imprisonment by a Trial Court for committing aggravated sexual assault.
