The Delhi High Court received a petition from school students seeking a ban on outdoor sports events and physical education classes during the high-pollution months from October to February.
The petition argued that strenuous activity during severe AQI levels exposes children to serious health risks and violates their right to clean air and health under Article 21.
The Petition contended that while sports promote holistic development, they cannot be pursued at the cost of long-term physical harm. The petition further asserted that the State must balance health and participation instead of compelling children to choose between them.
