Coimbatore Dentist Ordered to Pay ₹1 Lakh for Negligent Tooth Extraction

The District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission, Coimbatore, has ordered a private dentist to pay Rs. 1 lakh compensation to a woman who suffered severe pain and infection due to the negligence of the doctor. 

The woman, on the advice of the dentist, got one tooth removed but suffered unbearable pain for the next three days. She rushed back to the clinic, but found it closed.

To get treated, she had to approach another dentist who informed her that the procedure had not been carried out properly, and she had to spend Rs. 1.5 lakhs to get treated.

The compensation was ordered keeping in mind the physical and mental suffering caused, as well as the legal expenses.
