Digital Rape Allegation: Medanta ICU Technician Arrested for Sexually Assaulting Ventilated Patient

Deepak, a 25-year-old technician, was arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting a flight attendant on ventilator support in Medanta Hospital's ICU. 

The accused, employed at the hospital for five months, reportedly committed digital rape (non-consensual penetration using fingers or toes) in the presence of two nurses who failed to intervene.

Police identified him after reviewing 800 CCTV clips and interrogating over 50 staff members. He confessed to the crime and was found to have watched porn before and after the incident.

The case draws legal clarity from a 2021 POCSO ruling, where a Delhi court held that digital penetration is as serious as penile vaginal rape. The hospital has suspended him, investigation is ongoing.
