Punjab & Haryana HC Sets Strict Deadline for Judicial Disciplinary Proceedings

The Punjab and Haryana High Court has mandated that all disciplinary proceedings against judicial officers be concluded within six months and 25 days.

This directive came during the hearing of suspended Judge Sudhir Parmar's plea, who sought additional time to respond to a chargesheet in a bribery case.

The Court found unwarranted delays and warned that Inquiry Officers delaying proceedings without valid reasons could face misconduct charges

The Court dismissed Parmar's plea, noting he failed to submit his written defense within the 45-day period as per the Haryana Civil Services (Punishment & Appeal) Rules, 2016.

The Inquiry Officer was directed to expedite the process and submit the inquiry report promptly.
