A Division Bench of the Kerala High Court held a late-night hearing on an appeal by the producer of The Kerala Story 2 - Goes Beyond, challenging a single judge’s interim order staying its release for 15 days.
The producer contended that the Central Board of Film Certification had examined the film, directed cuts, and granted certification under the Cinematograph Act, and that the stay would cause substantial financial loss.
The single judge had flagged concerns over the teaser’s potential impact on public order and communal harmony under Section 5B(1).
The Division Bench has reserved orders, and the interim stay remains in force.
