Doctors Challenge Toxic Waste Disposal Plan Linked to Bhopal Gas Tragedy

Doctors in Madhya Pradesh have filed a PIL in the High Court against the disposal of 346 tonnes of toxic waste from the 1984 Bhopal Gas Tragedy. This waste, linked to the Union Carbide plant, is planned for incineration in the Dhar district, raising fears of air and water contamination.

The petitioners argue that incineration poses risks to public health and the environment, advocating for safer alternatives and increased transparency.

The Bhopal disaster, one of the worst industrial accidents, resulted in thousands of deaths and long-term environmental damage, highlighting the need for responsible waste management to protect communities.
