A Mumbai magistrate court has sentenced Rishab Patel, a 40-year-old resident of Worli, to four months of rigorous imprisonment after his pet Husky bit neighbor Ramik Shah inside a residential lift in 2018.
The incident occurred when Patel forced entry into the lift despite Shah's request to wait, as his child was afraid of dogs.
The court found Patel guilty under IPC Sections 324 (voluntarily causing hurt) and 289 (negligent conduct with respect to animals), citing CCTV footage and witness testimonies.
He was fined ₹4,000, with sentences running concurrently, and the fine was directed as compensation to the victim.
