The Delhi State Consumer Commission upheld a ₹3.5 lakh compensation awarded to a complainant against Dr. Lal PathLabs for issuing erroneous blood test reports.
The lab’s report showed abnormal parameters and led to emergency hospitalisation advice. However, tests from other reputed labs showed normal results, causing the complainant mental trauma and unnecessary medical consultation.
Dr. Lal PathLabs cited possible dehydration but failed to provide quality control records or a valid explanation for the discrepancies. The complainant claimed a deficiency in service on account of wrongful reports.
The Commission affirmed the District Forum’s order of service deficiency and upheld the compensation for mental agony and medical expenses.
