Dr. Subramanian Swamy Moves Supreme Court for National Monument Status to Ram Setu

Dr. Subramanian Swamy has filed a PIL in the Supreme Court seeking a direction to the Centre to decide on his request for granting National Monument status to Ram Setu.

He also calls for surveys by the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) and Geological Survey of India (GSI) to recognize it as an ancient monument of national importance.

Swamy contends that Ram Setu, a limestone shoal bridge between India and Sri Lanka, holds deep religious and historical significance.

Despite submitting representations in January 2023 and May 2025, he asserts that the government has yet to respond.
