The Delhi Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission imposed a ₹5 lakh fine on Drishti IAS for publishing a misleading advertisement regarding UPSC results.
The complaint alleged that the institute had falsely projected a candidate’s success as its own achievement. The Commission found the claim deceptive and held it amounted to misrepresentation.
The commission also fined Drishti IAS ₹5 lakh under Section 2(28) of the Consumer Protection Act, 2019, for claiming “216+ UPSC CSE 2022 selections,” though 162 candidates had only joined its free Interview Guidance Programme.
The institute was directed to refund the coaching fee with 9% interest from the date of deposit and pay ₹50,000 as compensation for harassment and litigation costs, and given 30 days to comply with the order.
