EC To Use Digital Data For Speedy Removal of Dead Voters’ Names From Electoral Rolls

The Election Commission (EC) will soon receive electronic death registration data from states and UTs via the Registrar of India's portal under the amended Registration of Births and Deaths Act, 1969.

This integration allows Booth Level Officers (BLOs) to initiate verification visits based on this data, even if the deceased’s family hasn’t submitted Form 7.

However, actual deletion from the electoral roll will still require Form 7.

The initiative aims to ensure the timely and accurate removal of deceased voters, streamlining the electoral roll maintenance process across the country.
