ED Alerts Public on Fake Summons, Introduces QR-Based Verification

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has alerted the public about fake summons and scams involving impersonation of its officials. Fraudsters have been circulating forged notices to extort money.

To prevent such incidents, the ED has introduced a system-generated summons mechanism featuring a QR code and a unique passcode for verification.

Individuals can check authenticity by scanning the QR code or verifying details on enforcementdirectorate.gov.in.

The agency also warned against “digital arrest” scams, clarifying that no such provision exists under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act, 2002. All arrests are carried out physically and legally, and the ED urged citizens to stay vigilant.
