‘Errors Threaten National Security’: Ex-NRC Coordinator Approaches Supreme Court for Reverification

Former Assam NRC Coordinator Hitesh Dev Sarma has moved the Supreme Court seeking a complete and time-bound reverification of the draft and supplementary NRC under Clause 4(3) of the 2003 Citizenship Rules.

Filed in his personal capacity and on behalf of indigenous people, the plea alleges large-scale errors causing wrongful inclusion and exclusion, violating several rights granted under the Constitution

Citing CAG reports, official communications, and verification records, it points to flawed OI marking, absence of speaking orders, family tree mismatches, and ₹260 crore financial irregularities.

The Court issued notice; the final NRC remains unpublished.
