Zubeen Garg Death Case: Festival Organiser Moves SC for CBI/NIA Probe, Protection from Arrest

Festival organiser Shyamkanu Mahanta has moved the Supreme Court seeking a CBI or NIA probe, protection from arrest, and consolidation of over 54 FIRs filed against him in connection with singer Zubeen Garg’s death.

In his plea, Mahanta alleged that he was being made a scapegoat in a “witch-hunt,” pointing to prejudicial media trials and statements by state authorities that, he claimed, shaped public opinion against him.

He argued that his implication arose solely from organising the event and sought transfer of investigations to a central agency, suspension of the Look Out Circular, and protection from coercive action.
