The Rajasthan High Court has ruled that job reservation for ex-servicemen is a one-time benefit for re-employment, not a perpetual tool for career advancement.
Justice Anand Sharma rejected a petition from an ex-serviceman who, after securing one government job under the quota, sought another under the same category.
The court clarified that a person is considered an ex-serviceman for reservation purposes only until they secure a regular government appointment.
The court added that the lure of a more attractive job does not revive the quota benefit, which stands exhausted upon first appointment.
