O.P. Jindal Global University (JGU) has suspended classes for a week after a string of alarming infrastructure failures on the campus.
Students reported collapsing ceilings in the Global Library, plumbing leaks, and even an AC unit explosion in hostels.
The shutdown, from August 18–25, comes barely two weeks into the new academic year. In an email to students, the Registrar called the situation “unprecedented,” assuring that campus facilities remain open.
Students, who pay ₹3.35 lakh annually for housing, have long raised concerns about hostel safety.
The administration acted only after videos of the incidents went viral online.
