Fake Student Arrested for Illegally Staying at IIT-Bombay for 14 Days Using Forged Documents

Bilal Ahmad Teli, a 22-year-old man, was arrested for unlawfully staying at IIT-Bombay for 14 days while impersonating a PhD student using forged admission documents. 

Despite a limited educational background, he attended lectures, accessed labs, and even participated in an AI seminar.

The incident came to light when a staff member found him sleeping on a sofa, prompting a police complaint. Investigations revealed he had previously stayed on campus undetected in 2023. 

Police seized his phone and found that he created 21 different email IDs. Intelligence agencies are probing possible security threats, including potential anti-national activities linked to his unauthorised access.
