Fundamental Rights Under Article 32 Are For Citizens, Not For Government Agencies: Supreme Court

The Supreme Court held that the Enforcement Directorate cannot file a writ petition under Article 32, which is usually filed by citizens against the government for violation of fundamental rights.

The case involved ED seeking a transfer of the Nagarik Apurti Nigam scam case from Chhattisgarh to Delhi, alleging misuse of the justice system and political interference.

The Supreme Court said that if ED talks about its rights, it should also think about the rights of people too.

Later, the ED withdrew its petition after the Court said that government agencies cannot usually file such petitions under Article 32.
