Gauhati High Court Granted Anticipatory Bail to Ashish Chanchlani in Obscenity Case

  • Case Name: Ashish Anil Chanchlani v. The State of Assam

The Gauhati High Court has confirmed the interim anticipatory bail granted to YouTuber Ashish Chanchlani in an obscenity case related to the show India’s Got Latent, where Ranveer Allahbadia is the prime accused.

The court noted Chanchlani’s cooperation in the investigation and upheld his bail with existing conditions. 

The FIR, filed on February 10 at Guwahati’s Cyber Police Station, includes multiple charges under section 79, 95, 294, 296 Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita,  along with provisions from the IT Act, Cinematograph Act, and Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act.

Meanwhile, Chanchlani has petitioned the Supreme Court to transfer the case to Mumbai, and the Court has issued notice on the plea.
