GLC Mumbai Withdraws Notice Against Alumni Podcast Following Backlash from Alumni & Judges

Government Law College (GLC), Mumbai, has withdrawn its July 16 notice threatening legal action against alumni behind the podcast GLC: Law and Lore.

The move came after criticism from legal luminaries. Justice Gautam Patel called the threat “contemptible,” while Justice BN Srikrishna and Senior Advocate Sharan Jagtiani defended the alumni’s right to use the GLC name, citing free speech and lack of misrepresentation.

Following a review, the college’s Governing Council raised no objection to the podcast’s continuation, as long as it's clearly shown to be an alumni-run initiative, not officially linked to the institution.
