India is set to introduce AI-assisted “robo judges” in handling routine cases like petty crimes, land disputes, and traffic violations.
These systems will analyze case data and past rulings to help streamline verdicts, while ensuring human judges continue to make final decisions.
The initiative aims to cut down delays—pilot implementations have already seen a 15–20% drop in pendency and 30% faster case processing.
To prepare for this rollout, judges and ICT officers are undergoing training, including exposure trips to countries like China and Estonia where similar AI systems are already operational.
