The Central Government has officially fully operationalised the four transformative labour codes by notifying the final rules in the official gazette.
While the codes, encompassing Wages (2019), Industrial Relations (2020), Social Security (2020), and Occupational Safety (2020), technically became law on November 21, 2025, the new rules provide the necessary administrative framework for enforcement.
Key provisions include a mandatory 48-hour weekly work limit, compulsory appointment letters, and free health check-ups for workers over 40.
Furthermore, the rules establish a National Reskilling Fund for displaced workers and mandate equal pay and opportunity for women across all shifts, effectively consolidating 29 legacy laws into a modern framework.
