Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has announced that the Digital Personal Data Protection (DPDP) Rules have been finalized and will be notified by September 28, 2025.
The rules will give effect to the DPDP Act by laying down detailed provisions on consent, data processing, and compliance obligations for entities handling personal data. According to the minister, the framework is designed to strengthen privacy safeguards while ensuring smoother implementation for businesses.
The move is expected to align India’s data governance regime with global standards and provide long-awaited clarity on enforcement of the DPDP Act.
