The Gujarat High Court on August 12, 2025, reprimanded an advocate whose repeated absences led to thirty adjournments in an 82-year-old petitioner’s pension lawsuit filed in 2024.
Justice Nikhil S. Kariel condemned the lawyer’s conduct, noting it tarnishes the profession and suggested a referral to the Bar Council. Despite a final-chance order on July 25, the advocate skipped four more hearings.
The bench questioned why he accepted a case he could not pursue, citing that government records from nearly fifty years ago may no longer exist. The matter is listed for hearing again on August 13.
