The Gujarat High Court denied anticipatory bail to a law student accused of posing as a practising advocate and allegedly cheating multiple victims of nearly ₹80 lakh.
The Court noted serious allegations, including recovery of a fake Bar Council identity card, nameplate claiming she was a Supreme Court advocate, and notarial seals from her possession.
It observed that such conduct undermines the integrity of the legal profession and requires thorough investigation.
Emphasising the need for custodial interrogation to uncover the extent of the fraud and involvement of others, the Court held that no case for bail was made out and rejected the plea.
